ABOUT THE NAS CARE RESOURCE TOOLKIT
This is the resource for parents and caregivers of infants who were exposed to drugs in utero. Internationally known Pediatric Neurodevelopmental Psychologist Dr. Kiti Freier Randall has developed the NAS (Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome) TOOLKIT to help parents, foster parents, and health care providers in caring for the very specific needs of babies who may be experiencing withdrawal. The kit consists of a comprehensive list of signs and strategies from several perspectives (medical, nursing, OT, mental health, and speech) plus recommendations to such essential resources such as The Ollie World Swaddle. The kit also features a growing number of musical pieces called Therapeutic Infant Music designed specifically for this project. Dr. Kiti’s Toolkit is a much needed resource for a time such as this, when the number of babies born with drug exposure in utero is continually increasing.
One baby is diagnosed with NAS every 19 minutes in the United States, or nearly 80 newborns diagnosed every day
